New Beginnings

Goodbye August, Hello September.

August the first month of Autumn but often overlooked as the kids are still on holidays and we are all hoping and praying for an Indian summer. As August closes her door and September opens hers to welcome us in, I often feel a bit sad, sad for the carefree days of summer, the warm, long evenings, the adventures with the kids in the great outdoors and our trips to the beach (although not many this year).

Summer picnics

September brings with it, her own adventures, back to school for the kids, routines are put in place, no more leisurely lie in's, and there is a hint of crispiness in the breeze, the smell of turf fires wafting from the neighbours house as chimneys are cold from lack of use over the summer months.

The leaves begin to turn golden and rusty before they flutter to the ground, the surrounding hedgerows are bowing to the ground under the weight of all their ripe fruit, some may say its a sign of a cold winter to come.

Life in the candle studio has taken a new lease of life, I am lucky enough to be given the opportunity to return to college, a life long ambition of mine was to study fashion in my younger years but the chance never presented itself until now. I will still be working away in the candle studio behind it all with the help from my ever supporting loving family.

Presently I am working on my commission portfolio, which I am delighted to say is looking a lot fuller. Part of my candle studio is dedicated to creating original art images with a unique bespoke fragrance to match for a natural soy travel candle collection. My client base has grown and I am honored to have worked with DCU, Lena's tea rooms, St. Martin Apostolate, Carlingford Design house to name a few. Each original art image showcases the beginning of a unique story, the bespoke one of a kind fragrance captures the memories and tells the story behind the scent. Our client base all have some great stories to tell, and this is a different way to tell their stories. If you would like to know more about our commission process please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.

But for now, I must finish tidying my studio, there is turf to be brought in, ashes to be taken out and candles to be lit.

Happy September x
